3 juice recipes for healthy, radiant skin

Did you know that drinking the right kind of juice can boost your beauty?

Plant-based chef Megan Huylo, who battled cancer when she was just 8 years old, said you truly are what you eat.

“When you’re feeding your body these real whole foods you know which is really what your body needs to be healthy and to function at the optimal level, it really shows through in how your look and the clearness in your skin,” she told FoxNews.com

Huylo is healthy now, but turned to a plant-based diet to feel her best. Try these 3 juice recipes to sip your way to a glowing complexion.

Her “Sweet and Sunny Morning Juice” incorporates pineapple, ginger and lemon. Pineapple is packed with vitamin C, which promotes the growth of collagen and helps the elasticity of your skin.

“There’s also ginger in this juice, which is a really powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant,” Huylo said. “Ginger is also really great for digestion.”

This drink will give you a glow. Fennel is high in vitamin C and has a high water content— if we can get as much water and hydration into us as possible… that leads to more supple, glowing skin. Plums have antioxidants, red bell peppers are high in vitamins C and E, which help promote healthy, supple skin. The red-veined sorrel is a healthy leafy green.

“It’s going to protect our cells from any damage from free radicals that’s going to damage skin cell membrane,” Huylo said.

If you’re new to juicing, try Megan’s Refreshing Green Juice with Yellow Bell Peppers and Parsley. Zucchini is mostly water, which will keep your skin hydrated. Green apple has polyphenols, which regulate skin growth. Yellow bell pepper is high in vitamin C— your skin’s best friend. Spinach contains selenium, which protects against un damage and age spots. As for the spinach, Huylo said it’s a mild flavor packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

“This one I make for a lot of my clients who are looking for a cleanse or who want to start juicing just to get healthier, promote clearer skin, but they don’t want to drink something that is really loaded with pungent leafy greens,” Huylo said.
