Jana Kramer's "I Got the Boy" video is the perfect complement to her hauntingly beautiful song.
The clip features Kramer sitting on a hardwood floor in the middle of a living room, rifling through a small chest filled with memorabilia from a past relationship. The small wooden box is filled with old love letters, dried flowers, a locket and other items from a previous boyfriend. The video also features Kramer dancing around the house in a gorgeous, floor-length black dress.
“I Got the Boy” is a powerful anthem about the one who got away, but was never quite forgotten. The moving song revolves around a woman reminiscing about the past when she learns that an old flame is now married.
“I got the first kiss and she’ll get the last / She’s got the future and I got the past / I got the class ring, she got the diamond and wedding band / I got the boy and she got the man / I got the first kiss and shell get the last / We each got something, the other will never have,” Kramer sings in the “I Got the Boy” lyrics.
The emotional song is based on a four-year relationship Kramer had with her high school sweetheart, who is now married. The two have remained friends, and Kramer now defines their relationship as “puppy love.”
The 31-year-old singer is happily engaged to football player Michael Caussin now, and the pair are happily planning the details for their upcoming wedding, which will take place this spring.
