It’s been a rocky year for Tori Spelling’s philandering husband Dean McDermott. The “Chopped Canada” host sat down with Access Hollywood to discuss just how dark things got at one point, and he explained he is no longer going to be part of his wife’s reality series “True Tori,” even though he is one of the show’s executive producers.
"I'm not going to continue with the show," McDermott revealed. "I can't do this anymore. I can't keep opening a vein, opening my soul and sharing my feelings and thoughts and demons with the world."
He said he will participate in the last five episodes of the current season but then he will sign off the show for good.
McDermott also opened up about his darkest moments. The actor revealed he contemplated suicide.
“I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9 mm,” he said. “I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward.”
He said things have gotten better as of lately.
“I'm on the right medication,” he said. “Things are looking up right now. They're good, today."
McDermott memorably got caught cheating on Spelling, and their reality series has largely focused on the two trying to mend their relationship. He said he hopes he and Spelling can work things out that they will stay together.
He also hopes there is acting in his future.
"I see myself on a scripted show. I'm getting back to my roots, I'm getting back to acting… I went out an auditioned for a [part] on a 'CSI' and got it… [it's airing] December 14."
