California may be known for its wild police chases, but this one is just weird.

On Tuesday night, police in the city of Huntington Beach police responding to reports of a suspicious military vehicle spotted an Army green three-axle transport truck and attempted to stop it.

But the truck pulled away making loud popping noises and tore down the road at the blistering speed…of 10 mph.

The cops pursued for about four miles until it finally pulled over and they apprehended the driver, a 76-year-old man.

"We've been in all kinds of pursuits, but never one like this," police Sgt. Guy Dove told the Los Angeles Times.

The noises were determined to be engine backfires and the truck bought from surplus. Police cited the unidentified local for failure to yield and released him.
