An ambulance that is said to have carried the body of President John F. Kennedy following his assassination in 1963 has been sold, despite claims made that it is not the actual vehicle that was involved in the historical event.
The 1963 Pontiac Bonneville ambulance wearing U.S. Navy livery fetched a price of $120,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Saturday, far less than many expected it to go for before the controversy over its authenticity erupted on the eve of the auction.
The buyer, a car collector from Paradise Valley, Ariz. named Addison Brown, says she trusts that the car is as advertised. She says she’s not sure what she plans to do with it, but may ask the Smithsonian if it would like to put it on display
