This Chevy pickup has a surprise in the bed.

The Silverado High Desert concept introduced at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas on Tuesday features a concept storage system that combines lockable trunks built into the sides of the bed (think: RamBox) with a waterproof hard tonneau cover and an adjustable divider that can create compartments of various sizes beneath it.

A Chevrolet Avalanche-style sport bar with buttresses and integrated bed lighting tops of the modifications at the rear, while the Silverado High Country based truck is finished in a new Deepwood Green paint, and features 22-inch wheels from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog, 16-inch Brembo front brakes and a concept performance exhaust system for its 6.2-liter V8.

There are no plans to put the High Desert or its storage system into production, but automakers often use SEMA show cars to gauge interest in future products.
