An emergency official says several people were stabbed at a high school near Pittsburgh and a suspect has been taken into custody.

Dan Stevens, the spokesman for Westmoreland County emergency management, says five or six people were reported stabbed Wednesday morning at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville. That's about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.

It wasn't immediately clear if the suspect and the victims are students, adults or a mix of both. But Stevens says it doesn't appear any of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

School officials and Murrysville police didn't immediately return calls seeking further details.

Parents have been notified and may pick up their children at the school.
