ROSWELL, N.M. – Police in New Mexico say they have captured a man caught on surveillance video twice stealing cash-filled charity jars from a local grocery store.
Roswell police issued a plea for help finding 43-year-old Ricky De Los Santos on Thursday after they viewed the video.
They announced late Friday that they had tracked De Los Santos to his mother's house in the small town of Dexter south of Roswell. Police spokesman officer Travis Holley says officers had to get a search warrant to go inside and find him after he refused to come out.
He was booked into the Chaves County jail on two counts of larceny and remained there Saturday in lieu of $1,000 cash-only bail for each charge. Jailers could not determine if he had a lawyer.
