A bond hearing for George Zimmerman has been scheduled for April 20 at 9:00 a.m., Fox News has learned.
Zimmerman is currently being held without bond on a second-degree murder charge over the death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, had previously declared he would seek Zimmerman's release on bond Thursday, but he told reporters he had changed his mind because it "might only increase the fervor" surrounding the case. The shooting has sparked emotional protests about perceived racial injustice.
Zimmerman, 28, has admitted to shooting the unarmed 17-year-old Martin but said he was acting in self-defense. He said the teen attacked him while he was serving his role as neighborhood watchman on Feb. 26 in Sanford, an Orlando suburb.
He was officially charged with second-degree murder in the high-profile case Wednesday.
