3 Massachusetts Schools on Lockdown as Police Search for Murder Suspect

DEVELOPING: Three schools in Marshfield, Mass., are reportedly on lockdown as police search for a murder suspect believed to be carrying a knife.

The Marshfield Public Schools superintendent said the high school, junior high and Daniel Webster elementary remain on lockdown after the suspect allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old woman at a Marshfield apartment complex before fleeing the scene, MyFoxBoston.com reports. The victim later died at an area hospital.

Police have warned residents to be on the lookout for the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Marcello Almeda.

Almeda is described by police as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-5 and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is being urged to call 911 immediately.
