Tampa, FL – New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain suffered a dislocated right ankle on Thursday and is sidelined indefinitely.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday that Chamberlain was hurt while playing with his son and underwent surgery Thursday night.
Chamberlain was progressing from Tommy John surgery performed last summer and was hoping to return in June.
The 26-year-old right-hander appeared in 27 games last season before suffering the torn elbow ligament and posted a record of 2-0 with a 2.83 earned run average.
