Woodland, Moore set for Monday playoff in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (SportsNetwork.com) - The weather-affected CIMB Classic will be decided Monday after Gary Woodland and Ryan Moore ended regulation knotted in first place at 14-under-par 274 on Sunday.

After enduring a pair of weather delays which totaled nearly four hours, Woodland and Moore entered the par-5 18th tied for the lead at 14-under.

Woodland had a chance to win the event with a birdie, but his 12-foot putt missed on the low side and Moore got up-and-down for par from in front of the green to force the playoff.

"I hit it where I wanted to. I hit a good putt," Woodland said in a televised interview. "It just broke a little more than I thought."

Play was called due to darkness after the final group of Woodland, Moore and Chris Stroud finished the 18th.

Woodland fired a final-round 69 on Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club's West Course, while Moore, the overnight co-leader, managed a 70. Both players are aiming for their third PGA Tour win.

Stroud, who shared the third-round lead with Moore, carded a 71 and ended in a tie for third place with Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat (70) at 13-under-par 275 70.

Aaron Baddeley shot 66 and placed fifth at 12-under, while Jimmy Walker (68) took sixth at minus-11. Charles Howell III (68), Harris English (69) and Graham DeLaet (71) shared seventh at 10-under.

Second-round leader Keegan Bradley shot even-par 72 and ended alone in 10th at 9-under, one shot ahead of Sergio Garcia (72).

Woodland opened with three birdies in five holes to jump into contention. Later, when the initial weather delay of just over three hours struck, Woodland was through 11 holes, even with Moore and Aphibarnrat at 13-under.

After the players returned the course, Woodland birdied the 14th to move into solo first, but Moore answered with a birdie at No. 16 to square things entering the final two holes.

"I got myself into a little bit of trouble there on 18 but I was fortunately able to scramble and just be able to make a par and still be in this thing," said Moore.

Aphibarnrat, playing in the penultimate group, parred his final eight holes to take a share of third.

NOTES: Woodland's last win came at the Reno-Tahoe Open in August, which used the Modified Stableford scoring system. Moore's last win came at the 2012 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open ... Sunday's final round marked the first suspension of play of the 2013-2014 season ... Phil Mickelson tied for 19th place at 5-under-par 283 ... Defending champion Nick Watney tied for 35th at 1-under.
