SAUCIER, Miss. (AP) — David Frost matched the course record with a 6-under 66 in windy conditions Saturday to join Brad Bryant and David Eger atop the leaderboard in the Champions Tour's inaugural Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.

Bryant took a one-stroke lead into the final hole, but closed with a bogey for his second consecutive 68. Eger also shot a 68 to match Frost and Bryant at 8-under 136 on the Fallen Oak Golf Club course.

"In the wind like this, it's not so much about momentum as it is about patience and control," Bryant said.

Jay Haas (68) was 6 under, and Tom Kite (68), Joey Sindelar (69), Rod Spittle (69) and Tommy Armour III (69) were at 5 under.

"Anybody can win," Eger said. "Eight under, we just start off with the lead. By the time we tee off we could be behind."

Gary Hallberg also matched the course record with a 66 to finish in a group at 4 under that included first-round co-leader Bob Tway (74).

Leonard Thompson, who shared the first-round lead with Tway, struggled most of the day, shooting a 5-over 77 that dropped him into a tie for 26th at even par.
