Steven Holcomb (Park City, Utah) and Steve Langton man bobsled world title at 19 in Lake Placid, N.Y. The pair edged a Canadian team by a margin of .46 seconds for a total time of 3:42.88.


Three women made history at the first-ever U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Women's Boxing by making a clean-sweep of their respective weight divisions. Held Feb. 12-19 in Spokane, Wash., Queen Underwood (Seattle, Wash.), Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas) and Claressa Shields (Flint, Mich.) all claimed victory at the trials and will compete at the women's world championships in hopes of earning berths to the London Games.


The men's and women's badminton teams both won the Pan American preliminary tournament held Feb. 17-19 in El Monte, Calif. The teams advance to the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals this May in China.


Team USA captured the team world title at the FIBT Bob and Skeleton World Championships with a combined time of 3:44.98 on Feb. 19. Steven Holcomb (Park City, Utah), Justin Olsen (San Antonio, Texas), Matt Antoine (Prairie du Chien, Wis.), Katie Uhlaender (Breckenridge, Colo.), Elana Meyers (Douglasville, Ga.) and Emily Azevedo (Chico, Calif.) produced some of the top runs of the day en route to the victory.


Team USA charged to the lead with a near-perfect 5-1 record after six rounds of competition at the 2012 World Wheelchair Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea.

A women's quartet led by Allison Pottinger (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and a men's foursome chaired by Heath McCormick (Sarnia, Ontario) captured the USA Curling National Championships held Feb. 11-18 in Aston, Pa.


Sarah Hammer (Temecula, Calif.) claimed the gold medal in omnium on the final day of the track world cup event held Feb. 19 in London.


Team USA qualified for two more events at the Olympic Games with strong performances on the first day of world cup competition in London. Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) and Kristian Ipsen (Clayton, Calif.) placed sixth in the men's synchronized 3-meter final, while Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) placed 18th in the women's platform preliminary event.


The U.S. men's foil team secured a berth in the London Games with a fourth- place finish at the world cup event on Feb. 18 in La Coruna, Spain. Alexander Massialas (San Francisco, Calif.) led the team with a seventh-place finish.


Kayla Harrison (Middletown, Ohio) became the first U.S. woman to win the Dusseldorf grand prix with her victory on Feb. 18.


Erin Hamlin (Remsen, N.Y.) claimed her sixth career bronze medal on Feb. 19 at the Latvia World Cup.

Emily Sweeney (Suffield, Conn.), Kate Hansen (La Canada, Calif.) and Summer Britcher (Glen Rock, Pa.) earned top-10 finishes at the junior world championships, held Feb. 18-19 in Koenigssee, Germany.


Chas Guldemond (Reno, Nev.) captured victory at the world snowboarding championships on Feb. 19 in Oslo, Norway, with a strong run in the men's slopestyle finals. Kelly Clark earned her 15th consecutive win with a halfpipe victory.

The U.S. men's freestyle team swept the podium at the NorAm dual moguls event on Feb. 19 in Val St. Come, Que. Landon Gardner (Missoula, Mont.) led Shane Cordeau (Sun Valley, Idaho) and Nate Roberts (Park City, Utah) in the competition.

Patrick Deneen (Cle Elum, Wash.) captured his first world cup win since December 2010 with a dual moguls win at the world cup in Naeba, Japan. Meanwhile, Julie Mancuso (Squaw Valley, Calif.) recorded her second world cup victory of the season on Feb. 21 in Moscow, Russia.


Jonathan Kuck (Champaign, Ill.) led Team USA to a sixth-place finish at the Essent ISU World All-Around Championships in Moscow, Russia.


The U.S. women topped off an undefeated run with an 11-8 victory over Canada to capture the Holiday Cup title on Feb. 19 in Los Alamitos, Calif.


Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb.), Dustin Kilgore (Berea, Ohio) and Tervel Dlagney (Columbus, Ohio) each captured gold medals at the Cerro Pelado International, held Feb. 14-15 in Havana, Cuba.

The U.S. women's team earned four medals - including gold for Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo.) - at the Klippan Lady Open on Feb. 19 in Klippan, Sweden.
