Lisbon, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - Two goals from Fredy Montero helped guide Sporting Lisbon to a 4-0 triumph over Pacos Ferreira, a result that moves Sporting to the top of the Portuguese Liga.
FC Porto's 1-0 defeat at Academica on Saturday paved the way for both Sporting and Benfica to overtake the side.
And both teams secured three points on Sunday with Benfica capturing a 3-1 win at Rio Ave.
Those results leave Sporting and Benfica tied atop the league on 26 points, with Sporting holding the edge in goal difference.
Following a first-half goal from William Carvalho, Montero doubled Sporting's lead in the 51st minute before he converted from the penalty spot 18 minutes from time to put Sporting up 3-0.
Andre Martins capped the scoring with Sporting's fourth goal in the 89th minute.
Lima tallied two goals in the second half of Benfica's 3-1 win at Rio Ave, while Porto had no answer for a 44th-minute goal from Fernando Alexandre in its 1-0 defeat at Academica.
Braga rolled to a 4-1 win over Olhanense on Friday, Maritimo got two goals in a 2-1 triumph over Arouca, Belenenses played the final 55 minutes with 10 men in its 0-0 draw against Gil Vicente, Mario Rondon's two goals weren't enough for Nacional as the team was held to a 2-2 draw by Setubal, and on Monday, Guimaraes used goals from Tiago and Marco Matias to secure a 2-0 win over Estoril.
