Philadelphia, PA – The Colorado Rockies placed catcher Yorvit Torrealba on the 7-day concussion disabled list prior to Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Torrealba exited Sunday's 7-2 loss at Baltimore in the eighth inning after taking a foul ball from the Orioles' Nick Markakis off his mask.
The 13-year veteran is batting .252 with 10 RBI in 51 games this season.
Utilityman Jordan Pacheco was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move and is expected to serve as the backup catcher behind Wilin Rosario until Torrealba returns.
Pacheco has spent the majority of the season with the Rockies, but was optioned to the minors in late July after going 1-for-26 for the month. In 69 total games for Colorado, the 27-year-old has batted .229 with one home run and 17 RBI.
The Rockies also placed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin on the bereavement list, though he's still slated to make his next scheduled start Friday in Miami.
Infielder Ryan Wheeler, who was hitting .308 with 10 homers and 81 RBI at Colorado Springs, was promoted from the Sky Sox to fill Chacin's roster spot.
