Englewood, CO – The Denver Broncos and general manager Brian Xanders have mutually agreed to part ways, the Denver Post reported Monday.
Xanders joined Denver's staff in May 2008 as assistant general manager, having spent the previous 14 years with Atlanta in player personnel, coaching and football operations. He was promoted to GM in February 2009, part of a major staff overhaul following the firing of long-time head coach Mike Shanahan.
Responsible for draft preparation among other duties, Xanders drafted such talents as Tim Tebow, Perrish Cox and Von Miller.
But the Post noted that the 41-year-old Xanders never had authority over personnel decisions; most recently, Hall of Famer John Elway has run the front office.
Since Elway joined the Broncos' staff in 2011, Denver's roster has been radically revamped, most notably with the signing of Peyton Manning and the departure of Tebow.
