St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays placed reliever Jeff Beliveau on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to soreness in his left shoulder.
Beliveau, who posted a 2.63 ERA and one save in a career-best 30 appearances for the Rays in 2014, has been tagged for four runs and five hits over just 1 2/3 innings over his two most recent appearances.
Fellow lefty C.J. Riefenhauser was recalled from Triple-A Durham to fill Beliveau's spot in the bullpen. Additionally, the Rays recalled infielder Ryan Brett from Durham prior to Friday's game against the New York Yankees and optioned outfielder Mikie Mahtook to the Bulls.
Riefenhauser pitched in seven games as a September call-up by the Rays last season, allowing five runs and three walks over 5 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old pitched to a 1.80 ERA in 11 appearances during Spring Training, however.
Brett hit .303 with eight home runs, 38 RBI and 27 stolen bases at Double-A Montgomery last season.
