Boston, MA – The Texas Rangers activated pitcher Alexi Ogando off the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.
Ogando has been sidelined since May 16 with right biceps tendinitis. He last pitched on May 15 against the Oakland Athletics, throwing six innings of one- run baseball.
The 29-year-old right-hander is 4-2 with a 3.08 ERA in nine starts this season.
To make room for Ogando, pitcher Joseph Ortiz was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Ortiz, 22, is 2-1 with a 5.13 ERA in 20 appearances this season, but allowed 14 runs in 14 2/3 innings over his last 13 games.
