Pulis out after seven seasons at Stoke

Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City confirmed on Wednesday that the club has parted ways with manager Tony Pulis by mutual consent after seven seasons.

Pulis was informed that he wouldn't be returning to Stoke in a meeting with club chairman Peter Coates on Tuesday, and the club released a brief statement to confirm his departure.

"Stoke City and Tony Pulis confirm that they have mutually agreed that Tony will leave the club with immediate effect," the statement read.

The 55-year-old Pulis helped Stoke earn promotion to the Premier League in 2008, and has kept the Potters in the top flight since then, including a 13th- place finish this past term.

Under Pulis, Stoke reached the FA Cup final for the first time in 2011 while also advancing to the knockout round of the Europa League the next season.

But Pulis came under fire after a poor second half of the Premier League season this year, bringing an end to his time with Stoke.
