Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang was taken to the hospital after getting hit in Saturday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Late in the second period, Coyotes forward Shane Doan shoved Letang, who went into the air and crashed into the boards.

After staying on the ice for a couple of minutes, Letang was helped off the ice and taken to a hospital.

"(Letang) did go to the hospital to be checked out," said Pittsburgh head coach Mike Johnston. "We'll get an evaluation as to where everybody thinks he's at in the morning."

No penalty was assessed to Doan on the play, but he did get into a fight with Steve Downie a bit later in the period.
