Newcastle's Cabaye handed three-match ban

Newcastle, England – Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye has failed in his appeal to the English Football Association over a violent conduct charge stemming from Saturday's FA Cup loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, it was announced Wednesday.

Cabaye was handed a three-match ban after the FA entertained the appeal and upheld the violent conduct charge.

The 26-year-old will miss Wednesday's trip to Ewood Park when it will face Blackburn, and will also be unavailable for Newcastle's Premier League contests against Aston Villa on Feb. 5 and Tottenham on Feb. 11.
