AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta is expected to be out of action until January because of a thigh injury.

The 35-year-old sustained the problem in Milan's 3-2 Champions League defeat against Barcelona on Wednesday, and according to a statement from the club, he will miss the next month of action.

The Rossoneri has already qualified for the knockout round of the Champions League, while the club lies third in the Serie A table.

Nesta has scored one goal in eight Serie A starts this season, and he is expected to miss five league matches while out with the injury.
