Sunderland, England – Sunderland announced on Friday that winger James McClean has signed a new contract which ties him to the club until 2015.
The 22-year-old joined the Black Cats from Irish side Derry City last summer and has made 19 appearances since arriving at the Stadium of Light.
McClean has tallied four goals for the club this season and established himself as a key player under manager Martin O'Neill.
Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has also taken notice of McClean by handing him his first national team cap against the Czech Republic this past February.
