C.J. Garner made a jumper as time expired to lift Long Island to an 82-80 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) on Saturday.

The Blackbirds (20-5, 12-2 Northeast Conference) have won five in a row, beating St. Francis (11-14, 6-8) in a back-to-back matchup. Long Island won 87-76 against St. Francis on Feb. 9.

Jamal Olasewere made two free throws to give the Blackbirds a 79-75 lead with 53 seconds left. St. Francis tied the game at 80-all after Akeem Bennett's 3-pointer and Akeem Johnson' free throw with 8 seconds remaining.

But Garner answered with his game-winning score for Long Island.

Julian Boyd led the Blackbirds with 19 points and eight rebounds. David Hicks and Olasewere each had 14 points, while Garner finished with 12 points and five assists.

Akeem Bennett scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for St. Francis. Travis Nichols had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
