Detroit Red Wings star defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will miss Tuesday's game against Columbus because of an ankle injury.

Lidstrom was hurt during this past Saturday's game against Colorado when he was hit in the skate by a puck. He played the entire contest before undergoing an x-ray afterward.

The 41-year-old veteran has 10 goals and 21 assists in 62 games this season, leading Detroit defensemen in scoring with 31 points. He also leads the club with a plus-25 rating, tied for the third-best mark in the NHL.

Mired in a three-game losing streak entering Tuesday's action, the Wings recalled defenseman Doug Janik from their American Hockey League affiliate in Grand Rapids. Janik, a 31-year-old veteran, leads the Griffins with a plus-16 rating in 53 games.
