Jaron Lane scored 25 points, hitting 13 of 14 free throws, as UNC Asheville topped Coastal Carolina 100-85 on Saturday.

UNC Asheville (15-13, 9-5 Big South) erased a two-point deficit with a 12-3 run to close the first half, taking a 45-38 lead and never trailing again.

Coastal Carolina (16-12, 9-5) cut its deficit to 86-81 with less than 3½ minutes to play but the Bulldogs responded with nine straight points and sealed their fifth win in their last seven games.

Andrew Rowsey added 17 points for UNC Asheville, D.J. Cunningham scored 14, Corey Littlejohn had 13 and Jaleel Roberts had 10.

Elijah Wilson led Coastal Carolina with 28 points and Warren Gillis scored 22 but the Chanticleers made just 27 of 43 from the free throw line. Coastal Carolina has now dropped two straight after a stretch of seven wins in eight games.
