Krauss lifts Angels over Jays; Pujols exits with hand contusion

Toronto, ON ( - Marc Krauss, who replaced an injured Albert Pujols, hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to help give the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim a 4-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Pujols left the game in the fifth inning after being hit in the left hand by a pitch an inning earlier. He was diagnosed with a contusion.

Mike Trout went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and three runs scored for the Angels, who have won two in a row. Jered Weaver (3-4) won his third straight start after giving up three runs on four hits over seven innings.

"I elevated some balls there and they didn't miss them," said Weaver. "I just tried to keep us in the game."

Chris Colabello, Ezequiel Carrera and Danny Valencia had one RBI apiece during a three-run bottom of the fourth for the Blue Jays, who have dropped nine of 11.

Drew Hutchison (3-1) allowed four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks over 6 2/3 innings.

"Extremely frustrating. We want to win," said Hutchison. "We need to win, it's that simple."

The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Trout singled, Pujols was hit by a pitch and Kole Calhoun reached on an infield single to load the bases with no outs. After David Freese struck out swinging, Matt Joyce walked to force in a run. Hutchison, however, retired the next two batters to prevent further damage.

Toronto responded with three runs in the bottom half. Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion walked before Russell Martin grounded into a double play. Bautista raced home on Colabello's double to left-center field. Carrera's run-scoring single and Valencia's RBI double made it 3-1.

Trout made it a one-run game with a two-out homer in the fifth.

Los Angeles went in front with a two-run seventh. Taylor Featherston got caught between third and home when Erick Aybar hit a grounder to short. Trout walked prior to Steve Delabar taking over on the mound. The runners moved up on a wild pitch and Krauss hit a two-run double to left-center field.

Joe Smith tossed a perfect eighth and Huston Street pitched a scoreless ninth for his 14th save of the season.
