The Champions Tour announced on Sunday that Kapolei Golf Course will host the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship.

The newly created event will be contested from September 14-16. Pacific Links Hawaii owns the golf course.

"Pacific Links Hawaii is very pleased to partner with the Champions Tour," said Micah Kane, the Pacific Links Hawaii chief operating officer. "Hosting this tournament at our scenic Kapolei course falls in line with the company's goal to elevate the quality of golf in Hawaii, while helping to build our Pacific Links Hawaii brand by showcasing Kapolei, promoting golf tourism and strengthening the local economy."

Greg Norman, who is an ambassador for Pacific Links Hawaii, is expected to headline the field.

Kapolei, which opened in 1995, formerly hosted the LPGA Tour's Hawaiian Ladies Open from 1996-2001.
