Juventus extended its unbeaten streak to 44 matches in Serie A on Tuesday with a 0-0 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Juve tied its last match in 2010-11, finished unbeaten in Serie A last season, and began the new campaign with four successive wins. The defending champions survived a shot off the crossbar from Stevan Jovetic to secure a draw in their fifth match.

Juventus extended its lead atop the standings to three points with most of the league yet to play their midweek fixtures. Only three-win Napoli, which hosts Lazio on Wednesday, could overtake Juve for the top spot.

Napoli is three points back, and also trails in goal differential by three.

Fiorentina posted its second straight draw to go with two wins and a loss from its first three matches, and sits five points off the pace in fifth place.

Also Wednesday, Pescara hosts Palermo, AC Milan hosts Cagliari, Catania hosts Atalanta, Chievo hosts Inter Milan, Genoa hosts Parma, Roma hosts Sampdoria, and Torino hosts Udinese. On Thursday, Siena hosts Bologna.
