Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Bruce Chen may be on his way to playing for a 12th Major League club, as the Indians designated the well-traveled hurler for assignment on Saturday.

Chen was signed to a minor-league contract in mid-February. He ended up losing his lone decision and pitched to a 12.79 earned run average in two starts this season. In Friday's 8-3 win over Texas, Chen lasted just 2 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on seven hits, including a pair of first-inning home runs.

The 37-year-old Chen is 82-81 with a 4.62 ERA in 400 career games (227 starts).

To fill the roster spot, the Indians recalled pitcher Austin Adams from Triple-A Columbus. A 28-year-old right-hander, Adams has yet to record a decision but holds a 1.93 ERA in two appearances for the Tribe from April 12-14.
