Hurricanes sign free-agent center Jay McClement to 1-year deal

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes signed free-agent center Jay McClement to a one-year, $1 million deal Wednesday.

The 31-year-old McClement had four goals and six assists in 81 games for Toronto last season and led the Maple Leafs in faceoff percentage at 53.6. He has 75 goals and 129 assists in 682 games in nine seasons with St. Louis, Colorado and Toronto.
