Provo, Utah – Tyler Haws scored 28 and Matt Carlino added 22 to lead BYU to an 81-72 win over in-state rival Weber State Friday night.
Despite BYU leads of 19 points in the first half and 20 in the second half, The Wildcats would not quit. Down 44-33 at halftime, Weber State clawed back early with multiple baskets by Jeremy Senglin to pull within six at 46-40 with almost 18 minutes remaining in the game.
The Cougars responded with a 15-1 run capped by a Carlino's basket with 12:58 remaining to push the lead back to 61-41.
Kyle Collinsworth scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Haws led BYU with 13 boards.
Kyle Tresnak led Weber State with 24 points while Berry scored 23, most of which came in the second half. Also in double figures were Senglin and Bolomboy with 14 and 11 respectively. Bolomboy also pulled down 13 rebounds.
