The NCAA has granted injured Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe a sixth year of eligibility, the university announced Friday.

The 6-foot-8 senior missed almost the entire season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Mbakwe suffered the injury in the Golden Gophers' seventh game, an 86-70 loss to Dayton in the title game of the Old Spice Classic in Orlando.

Despite being sidelined since late November, Mbakwe is still the team's leading scorer at 14.0 points per game and top rebounder at 9.1 per contest.
