Stuttgart, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Stuttgart climbed off the bottom of the Bundesliga table on Sunday as Daniel Ginczek scored in stoppage time to lift the club to a 3-2 home win over Werder Bremen.
Ginczek scored in the 70th minute to put Stuttgart up 2-1, but Bremen looked to have stolen a point with Janick Vestergaard's equalizer in the 86th minute.
However, Ginczek had other ideas and he netted the winner just before the final whistle to move Stuttgart to within three points of safety.
Christian Gentner scored a fantastic opening goal after 15 minutes to give the hosts the lead when his volley from the edge of the penalty area sailed past goalkeeper Raphael Wolf and into the net.
Stuttgart squandered a pair of good chances before halftime, and they paid for it early in the second half when substitute Davie Selke headed home a cross from Clemens Fritz to level the match at 1-1.
Martin Harnik wasted two excellent chances to put Stuttgart back into the lead, but he set up Ginczek for the go-ahead goal 20 minutes from time with a nice cross.
Harnik's day then took another turn when he was sent off in the 84th minute with a second yellow card, which was followed by Bremen netting the equalizer two minutes later as Vestergaard scored on a header.
Despite being down to 10 men, Stuttgart continued to battle for the win and Ginczek kept his composure in front of goal to beat Wolf and seize three vital points for his team.
Cologne moved six points clear of the relegation places after holding on for a 3-2 home win over Hoffenheim in Sunday's other match. Cologne had a 2-0 lead in the 70th minute before Pawel Olkowski was sent off for the hosts, allowing Hoffenheim back into the game. But Cologne managed to score in the 79th minute through Jonas Hector to go up 3-1 before holding on for a 3-2 win.
