The Los Angeles Galaxy announced the signing of Panama goalkeeper Jaime Penedo on Monday on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old spent the past six seasons in Guatemala with Municipal, while he most recently helped Panama reach the final of the 2013 Gold Cup.

Penedo began his career in Panama with Plaza Amador and Arabe Unido before leaving for Europe, where he spent time with Italian side Cagliari and Osasuna B in Spain.

He signed with Municipal in 2007 and helped the lead the team to four titles while making over 150 appearances.

Penedo has also earned 89 caps for Panama since making his debut with the national team in 2003.
