Pieter van Tongeren scored a career-best 18 points to lead Evansville to a 90-56 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday night.

Denver Holmes added 13 points for the Purple Aces (4-4), who had lost two straight. Colt Ryan scored 12 and Lewis Jones 10.

Tyler Hines and Kevin White scored 11 points each for the Hawks (2-7), and Tim Burns had 10. Hines also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Van Tongeren went 8 of 10 from the floor to pace Evansville to a shooting advantage of 59.2 percent (29 of 49) to 36.7 percent (22 of 60).

The Purple Aces led 46-23 at intermission, and Kenneth Harris' dunk with 15:47 remaining gave them their biggest lead at 59-29.

For the first time this season, Evansville won when making more 3-pointers than the opponent. The Aces had six to the Hawks' four.
