Eastern Illinois to introduce new football coach
Charleston, IL – Eastern Illinois University has scheduled a news conference Friday morning to introduce its new football coach.
Four assistant coaches from FBS programs - Randall McCray (Pittsburgh), Mark Hutson (Tulane), Jeff Choate (Boise State) and Dino Babers (Baylor) - interviewed on campus for the position over the past three weeks.
Footballscoop.com reported the selection committee was particularly impressed with Babers, the outside receivers and special teams coordinator at Baylor, during the process.
The new head coach will replace Bob Spoo, who retired after 25 years with the Panthers. This year's squad went 2-9 for the second straight season and finished last in the Ohio Valley Conference.
