Davie, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Dolphins made it official Monday and signed offensive lineman Mike Pouncey to a contract extension through the 2020 season.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports this past weekend indicated the deal to be worth $52.15 million, which would make him the highest-paid center in the NFL.
Pouncey has been a Pro Bowl selection in each of the last two seasons, first at center in 2013 and then at guard last year when he returned four games into the season because of a hip injury. He is expected to return to center in 2015.
"We are excited that we were able to sign a contract extension with Mike," said Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey in a statement Monday. "He is a two-time Pro Bowler, with a team-first approach as evident by moving to guard last season while still playing a high level. We are happy that he will stay in Miami and be a key member of our offense."
Pouncey has started each of the 58 games he has played with the Dolphins, who selected him with the 15th overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.
