Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - World No. 1 star Novak Djokovic decided to pull out of next week's Madrid Masters in order to rest while he prepares to complete the career Grand Slam at the upcoming French Open.
"The Serbian announced that he will not compete at the Caja Magica and will take a period of rest before continuing his planned schedule at the tournaments in Rome and Roland Garros," Madrid tournament organizers said in a statement.
Djokovic also skipped the Madrid Masters last year because of a wrist injury.
The 27-year-old has been sizzling in 2015, capturing the Australian Open and Masters tournaments in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo.
