Deron Williams to miss rest of season after wrist surgery

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New Jersey Nets All Star Deron Williams will miss the remainder of the season following scheduled wrist surgery on Friday, the NBA team said.

Injury has restricted Williams to just 12 games after he was traded to the Nets from the Utah Jazz in February.

The Nets said an MRI scan had shown bone fragments and a buildup of scar tissue in his right wrist.

New Jersey, who will not feature in this year's playoffs, have a 24-54 record in the Eastern Conference.
