Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jason Kubel and Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster were named co-winners of the National League Player of the Week for the period ending June 10.

Kubel hit .409 in six games and was tied for the major league lead with 12 RBI. The 30-year-old hit a pair of homers, had five runs scored and 18 total bases to pick up his second career weekly award. Kubel's performance was highlighted with a 3-for-5, five RBI performance in a 10-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on June 5.

Dempster was 2-0 with 0.00 earned run average and nine strikeouts over 15 innings last week. On June 5, Dempster spun seven shutout frames while carrying a perfect game into the fifth to pick up his first win of the 2012 season when the Cubs routed the Brewers 10-0.

Other players considered for the weekly honor were Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano; Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard; Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley; and Braves outfielder Michael Bourn.
