BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – JP Kuhlman scored 15 points to lead Davidson to a 62-49 victory over Samford on Thursday night.
Brendan McKillop added 12 points, on four 3-pointers, and the Wildcats (11-12, 5-7 Southern Conference) improved to 3-8 on the road this year.
Davidson was 12 of 25 from the 3-point line (48 percent), including 8 of 15 in the first half (53.3 percent), to help the Wildcats build a 33-24 halftime lead.
Samford (11-12, 3-8), which has lost seven of eight games, shot only 11.8 percent from beyond the arc (2 of 17), including 0 for 8 in the second half.
The Wildcats led by at least nine throughout the second half, pushing the margin to 21 on De'Mon Brooks' two free throws with 8:23 left.
Davidson outrebounded Samford 44-25, leading to 12 second-chance points.
Brooks finished with 11 points.
Josh Davis and Gregg Wooten had 10 points each for Samford.
