The Cubs received good news Monday afternoon when rookie sensation Kris Bryant was cleared to play tonight as Chicago begins and important three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Chicago Tribune reported Monday afternoon that Bryant was expected to be examined today and that he will play.

Bryant left Sunday's game at Milwaukee in the fifth inning after trying to stretch a single into a double. He slid headfirst and was tagged hard on the top of the helmet by Brewers shortstop Jean Segura. Bryant came up dizzy and was forced out the game and undergo concussion protocol testing.

The Cubs enter the series four games behind the NL wild-card leading Pirates and tied with the San Francisco Giants for the second wild-card spot.
