Sydney, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - Seventh-seeded Croatian Marin Cilic dropped his first set, but rallied in the final two to take a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff at the Sydney International, a final hardcourt Australian Open tune-up.
Eight-seed Marcel Granollers was also a first-round winner on Tuesday at NSW Tennis Centre, defeating Australian Bernard Tomic 6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
France's Nicolas Mahut defeated American Ryan Harrison 7-6 (7-2), 7-5, while Czech Radek Stepanek beat Australian Samuel Groth 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky took down Argentinian Carlos Berlocq 6-3, 6-4, and Slovakian Blaz Kavcic cruised in a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Finland's Jarkko Nieminen.
Alexander Dolgopolov, also of Ukraine, beat Edouard Roger-Vasselin after the Frenchman retired after the first set.
This week's top seed is former U.S. Open champ Juan Martin del Potro.
