RADFORD, Va. – Kelvin Martin scored a career-high 24 points and Charleston Southern dominated overtime to defeat Radford 70-62 on Thursday night and end a two-game skid.
Martin scored five points in the final 34 seconds of regulation to force overtime, then the Buccaneers outscored the Highlanders 9-1 in overtime.
Charleston Southern (12-10, 6-4 Big South Conference) led 55-41 with 8:20 left, but a 20-1 Radford run made it 61-56 with 58 seconds to go.
Martin hit a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left, then two free throws for 61-61.
The Buccaneers' Jamarco Warren scored four of his 14 points in overtime.
The Highlanders (4-16, 1-9) shot 0 for 5 in overtime and 37.3 percent for the game (19 of 51) to lose their fifth straight.
Charleston Southern shot 20.7 percent in the second half (6 of 29) to finish at 34.5 percent (20 of 58).
Blake Smith led Radford with 15 points.
