Lake Buena Vista, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Kris Medlen underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday.

It's the second such procedure in the right-hander's career. Noted sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews performed the original Tommy John surgery on Medlen in Aug. 2010 and reconstructed the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow again.

Medlen, 28, was 15-12 with a 3.11 earned run average in 31 starts and one relief appearance for the Braves last season.
