Atletico Madrid announced on Monday that the club has signed striker Leonardo Baptistao from Rayo Vallecano.

After winning the Copa del Rey this past season, Atletico lost leading scorer Radamel Falcao to French side Monaco, forcing the club to search for a replacement.

Baptistao, 20, played a big part in Rayo's eighth-place finish in La Liga last season, scoring seven goals with six assists in 28 games, and he joins Atletico on a five-year contract.
