Indian Wells, CA – World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka was an round winner Tuesday at the $5.535 million BNP Paribas Open.
The Australian Open champion Azarenka improved to a perfect 20-0 this year with a 6-3, 6-1 pasting of 14th-seeded German Julia Goerges in 69 minutes at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
The 22-year-old Azarenka, seeking her fourth title of 2012, will face rising Pole Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarterfinals.
The surging world No. 5 Radwanska continued her recent run of fine form by getting past American wild card Jamie Hampton 6-3, 4-6, 3-0, as Hampton retired in the third set here on Day 7. Radwanska was a big winner in Dubai last month.
The 2012 Indian Wells titlist will collect $1 million.
