Australian teenager Bernard Tomic reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon with a 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 win over Xavier Malisse on Monday, becoming the youngest quarterfinalist at the All England Club since Boris Becker in 1986.

Tomic, who eliminated two-time French Open runner-up Robin Soderling, is one of two qualifiers in the fourth round this year, along with Lukasz Kubot of Poland. In the next round, he will face either Novak Djokovic or Michael Llodra.

Tomic is 18 years old, 29 days older than Becker when the German reached the quarters in 1986. Becker won the tournament that year, defending his title.
